I wear a multi-stud soccer cleat, which are something between a regular soccer cleat and a turf cleat. Anything more than that just gives you way more grip than is required. I have worn Speed TDs on the turf but they grip way too much. I wouldn't advise anyone to wear Speed TDs, or cleats with a similar cleat pattern like the Gaia's, on the turf. Turf cleats are more than adequate.

I like to wear
cleats (14-studs) on turf because it gives me more traction and support. 6-studs
and metal cleats would not be good.
I find it is a question of preference though. If someone likes to wear turf
shoes, they should be allowed; the same goes for cleats.

The field turf is great (still gives a good burn if it is dry and you layout/slide hard) but best thing next to grass. I have been wearing soccer cleats on it for the past two-three years (the ones with long "blade" studs as opposed to knob studs). Great traction and no problems with getting a foot caught.

On FieldTurf, I
use Nike Air Zoom International FG or Nike San Siro FG. I find that blade-style
cleats work best. I sometimes use my
Speed TDs, but they are so grippy that I practically have to lift my foot off
the turf to pivot. Well, whatever . . . I travel on every throw anyway.

I have been playing competitive co-ed Ultimate on and off FieldTurf for almost one year. I wear the same cleats on grass or turf without noticeable difference. The transition between grass and FieldTurf presents no problem for me. In fact, I have found FieldTurf to be safer due to the uniformity of its surface, and consistent traction, wet or dry. Laying out on FieldTurf is a joy. Why just yesterday I slid a good 8 feet, and returned to play immediately – an event that only occurs on wet grass.
