2005 Canadian Ultimate Championships
About the Competition
The Canadian Ultimate Championships involve competition in five separate divisions—Masters, Juniors, Mixed, Womens, and Open.
For their spot (bid) to play in the Canadian Championships, each team had to qualify through their region, either British Columbia, Alberta, Prairies, Ontario, Quebec, or the Maritimes. The number of bids available per region in each division is calculated out based on the previous year's performances, as well as the size and growth of the region.
Eight-team Masters and Juniors divisions have two days of qualifying pool play before playing quarterfinals, semifinals and finals on Saturday at Maple Grove Park. The sixteen-team Mixed and Open divisions plus the twelve-team Womens division have two days of pool play before playing their quarterfinals and semifinals at Maple Grove Park. The finals in these three divisions will be contested Sunday at Can West Global Park.
Teams will play three games each day, each game lasting to either fifteen points or one hour and fifty minutes. The final games will be to seventeen points.
An added incentive for this year's event is that the top-placing teams will earn bids to represent Canada in Perth, Australia at the 2006 World Ultimate Club Championships. Learn more about Worlds at: www.wucc2006.org.
