Waste Reduction and Disposal

Have you ever been to an Ultimate tournament and remarked on how much waste was produced? If so, you're not alone. Whether it's on-field food waste, or beer cup waste from the big party, a lot of garbage is tossed at these tourneys. We want to reduce this as much as possible:

  • there will be compost and recycling receptacles at all fields — please use them!
  • lug-a-mug

Food

Reduce your ecological footprint while you're in Halifax by frequenting restaurants that serve organic and locally grown foods. If you're a coffee drinker, you can also find many cafés around town that supply fair-trade coffee. A fish lover? Nova Scotia is renowned for its great seafood selection, a selection that also includes sustainable options like hook-and-line caught groundfish. You can also purchase your own organic/locally grown food at a number of locations.
