Call for volunteers

Help show visiting teams what Halifax is all about- friendly faces, good times and great Ultimate! We need a volunteer army to help make the CUC 2006 the best ever. Volunteer for a couple hours or a couple days- any of your time would be appreciated!

Volunteer Opportunities

There are volunteer jobs of all kinds available. Let us know what jobs interest you and when you're available and we'll set you up with a great volunteer experience. Some areas in which we'll need some help are:

• Field setup/take-down
• Water delivery to fields
• Information booth staff
• Merchandise stall staff
• Meet and greet for visiting teams (airport and hotel)
• Waste pick-up
• Party setup / take-down
• Bartending at the Saturday night party on Citadel Hill
• Food prep
• Scorekeeping / score reporting
• Timekeeping
• Miscellaneous: gopher, van drivers, dinner set-up and serving, etc

For those looking for a bit more responsibility and able to give a bit more of their time, we also require dedicated "Lieutenants" and "Field Marshals" to help coordinate volunteer activities. Both Field Marshals and Lieutenants will receive training and orientation in the weeks leading up to the Big Weekend, so it would be best if these volunteers are able to take part in pre-tournament meetings. These are challenging, yet rewarding, positions that require energetic individuals!

Lieutenants

Lieutenants will be responsible for some aspect of volunteer activities. Lieutenant opportunities include: coordinating the merchandise booth, overseeing food preparation at each field, heading up of scorekeeping and reporting, etc.

Field Marshals

Field Marshals will be responsible for coordinating activities at one of the satellite locations (Clayton Park and Burnside), and organizing a team of volunteers at their field. This position requires the commitment of a full day (or more!). Specific responsibilities will include: overseeing set-up and take down at their field each day, ensuring food and water are always available to players, reporting any problems to the head volunteer at the Commons site, etc.
