CUC 2007 FIELD INFORMATION

The 2007 Canadian Ultimate Championships will be taking place at Sunnybrook Park and Varsity Centre in Toronto.

Sunnybrook Park

Description
Sunnybrook is widely known to be the premier outdoor amateur sports field-space in Toronto.  It is shared by Toronto’s Football, Soccer, Cricket, Rugby and Ultimate players – who vie for the opportunity to play at Sunnybrook throughout the summer.  Sunnybrook Park is kept up by groundskeepers who take great pride in the quality terrain.

There will be 20 active fields at Sunnybrook Park.  4 food and water stations will be set-up around the perimeter of the fields.  The Sunnybrook Park pavilion has split gender showers and restrooms.  There will be additional portable restrooms set up around fields for convenient athlete and spectator use.

Trash & Recycling
Teams will be provided with garbage and recycling bags.  Please pick up your trash!!!  Please respect the tournament organizers and volunteers who will be required to clean up after you if you don’t do it yourself.  Please feel free to pick up additional garbage/recycling bags from Disc Central.

 

Varsity Stadium – Finals Field

Description
Varsity Centre is a new 5,000-seat stadium featuring a state-of-the-art artificial turf field.  The artificial surface known as Polytan Ligaturf is a layered system with soft, grass-like fibres laid on top of a 25-millimetre elastic support layer.  The field recently received a two-star rating from FIFA, the soccer governing body’s gold standard for performance.
The two-star certification, enjoyed by only three other facilities in North America, positions Varsity Centre to host a range of international sporting championships and signals U of T’s commitment to providing the best to its students.

NOTE:  Sports drinks and gels are not permitted on the field.  The artificial colouring permanently stains the turf.  Therefore, to keep the fields in pristine condition, the stadium managers insist that only ‘clear drinks’ are allowed on the field.  Your cooperation is appreciated!
