CUC 2007 CUPS RULES
Equipment
1 disc
4 bamboo gardening stakes (and plenty of replacements, available at most
hardware stores in packs of 20. 3' stakes are good, 4' are better.)
4 beer cups (16 oz, and plenty of replacements)
Setup
Stick 2 stakes in ground so that a disc may pass between them with an inch
or so clearance on either side. The other 2 stakes go in the ground 10-20
paces away, depending on the skill level of the throwers (try 15 and
adjust accordingly). Cups are placed upside-down on the tops of the
stakes.
Play
Teams of 2 take turns on offence, alternating throwers, targeting the
opposition's wickets. This is an exercise in accuracy, NOT POWER!!! A
speed
limit based on the safety of the players will be imposed, as the disc
is
not the focus of the defence.
Scoring
Offence scores 1 point for each cup that they knock to the ground.
Defence scores 1 point for a one-handed catch of a dislodged cup (bobbling
is permitted).
No points are scored on a dislodged cup caught using two+ body parts.
Offence scores 3 points if the disc passes between the stakes without
dislodging a cup.
Offence scores 2 points if the disc passes between the stakes without
dislodging a cup, if the disc touches the ground first (i.e. the
'roller').
Winning
Games can be played to any score, switch sides when one team has more
than
half of the total. (We'll play to 11)
