Executive Director
Position Available
CUPA intends to hire a new Executive Director
in early September, 2006.
This is an excellent opportunity to help develop
Ultimate across Canada and forge new directions for CUPA. Responsibilities
would include, but are not limited to, managing the day-to-day business
of the association, liaison with members and volunteers and helping
to coordinate two national tournaments. The successful candidate
must be a self-starter, motivated and ideally have some experience
in sports administration.
Listed below are the responsibilities and tasks
to be accomplished. If you are innovative, hard-working and have
strong organizational skills, some familiarity with non-profit organizations
and a passion for Ultimate, please consider applying for this position.
The proposed remuneration reflects that this position
is not a full-time opportunity. However, bonuses and incentives
are offered.

Responsibilities and Tasks:
The Executive Director reports to the Board of
Directors of CUPA (the "Board") and is responsible, in
part, for:
- Working with the Board to prioritize the activities
of managing CUPA
- The day-to-day administration and operation
of CUPA
- Acting as the primary contact for CUPA members
as well as local, national, and international organizations
- Documenting tasks and creating an Executive
Director’s Handbook
- Submitting weekly activity reports on a monthly
basis
- Attending Board and executive meetings and
the CUPA Annual General Meeting
- Providing administrative support to the directors
and other volunteers and assisting in the co-ordination of two
national tournaments
- Other duties as may be mutually determined
On-going Responsibilities:
- Research marketing, fundraising and sponsorship
opportunities
- Attend Board, Executive and committee meetings
as necessary
- Inform the Board of all CUPA developments and
submit reports of CUPA activities to the Board
- Administrative responsibilities: communications,
reports, hotline, letters, respond to e-mails, accounting, etc.
- Preparation of an electronic newsletter
- Manage and recruit volunteers
- Manage and ensure the information on the CUPA
web site is new and up to date
- Manage and update the members’ database
with the database administrator and ensure that this database
is backed-up properly (i.e. having at least one off-site backup)
- Work with the Vice-President, Finance to propose
budgets
- Form alliances with local, national and international
Ultimate associations
- Work on a log book of activities for the year
- Any other task as required to ensure the smooth
functioning of CUPA
Yearly Projects and Events
- Organize and implement membership procedures
- Assist in the organization, logistically and
competitively, of all CUPA tournaments, including the regional
series, the CUC and CUUC, with the respective committees
- Prepare member and volunteer surveys
- Update and revise CUC and CUUC tournament manuals
- Organize a Canadian League Conference when
next held
- Represent Canada and/or CUPA as the Executive
Director and provide overall leadership to Canadian teams attending
international Ultimate events
- Attend and represent CUPA as Executive Director
for all CUPA official events
