IMPORTANT CUC 2005 REGIONAL ALLOCATIONS ANNOUNCEMENT
(Wednesday, June 29th, 2005)

The CUPA Board of Directors have adopted two new amendments for the CUC 2005 Regional Allocations to better reflect representation of all regions.

They are:

  1. In divisions with 16 teams (Open and Mixed), first of all, two spots are awarded for each region. The balance of the bids are awarded as strength and size wildcards, starting with strength then size, and alternating strength, size, strength, size, until all remaining bids are filled.
  2. In divisions with 12 teams (Womens), first of all, one spot is awarded for each region. The balance of the bids are awarded as strength and size wildcards, starting with strength then size, and alternating strength, size, strength, size, until all remaining bids are filled. There is a maximum of 4 bids, in total, awarded per region.

These amendments are effective immediately, and thus nullify the regional allocations originally announced March 31st. For now, this method of distributing regional allocations will be reviewed every two years.

The new CUC 2005 Regional Allocations are as follows:

REGIONAL ALLOCATIONS 2005 BC AB PR ON QC AT Next wildcard
Juniors (8) 2 1 2 1 1 1 BC
Womens (12) 2 3 1 4 1 1 PR
Open (16) 4 3 2 3 2 2 ON
Mixed (16) 4 2 2 4 2 2 QC
Masters (8) 2 2 1 1 1 1 BC

Due to the short notice of this announcement, the CUPA Board of Directors has stipulated that the next wildcards be awarded to:

  • Open - ON
  • Mixed - QC
  • Womens - PR

After these wildcards have been allocated, the balance of the wildcards will continue as scheduled.

Thank you for your cooperation and good luck at Regionals!
