CUC 2007 HOST CITY ANNOUNCED
CUPA is pleased to announce that Toronto, Ontario has officially been selected as the host city for the 21st Canadian Ultimate Championships in 2007. The tournament will be held from August 9th to August 12th, 2007.

Ultimate in Toronto has been alive and well for the past 25 years and has over 5,000 Ultimate players. Sunnybrook Park, which last hosted CUC in 1996 and the WFDF World Ultimate Club Championships in 1991, will again be the preferred field location.

REGISTRATION FOR WUCC 2006 IS NOW OPEN
CUPA has to date selected 3 Women’s, 5 Mixed, 4 Open and 3 Masters teams, based on their CUC 2005 final standings, for the first-round bids which have been allocated to Canada. Click here for more information.

The UBC Thunderbirds (women) came out of the powerful Northwest Region to secure the region's 3rd bid to the 2006 UPA College Championships. Coming out of pool play with only one loss to top pool seed California-Davis and a convincing upset over Washington (11-5), the ladies were in prime position to make the front door finals. Alas, Stanford Superfly got in their way in the race for the front door semifinals so the ladies went to the tougher, longer, backdoor route to ensure their bid.

In dominating fashion they beat Washington (15-4) and only the California Pie Queens stood in their way. UBC ladies were ahead the whole game, thanks in part to the fantastic, gritty play of Megan O'Brien and the insane defence of Kira Frew. With the score 13-11 in favour of UBC, coaches Steff Chow and Jaime Kelly let their d-line loose on the Pie Queens for the stuff and score. Final score 15-11 for UBC!

The UBC lady Thunderbirds will be in Columbus, OH May 26-28th to battle at the 2006 UPA College Championships. For more info check http://college2006.upa.org/
